Duties
Transportation of Materials
- Responsible for safely and proficiently operating agency vehicles between worksites to transport material.
- A light-duty box truck, not exceeding 26,000 lbs.
- Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) is typical but may also require operation of a courier vehicle such as a light/ medium duty SUV.
- A CDL license is not required, however, a valid NYS Class D driver’s license is.
- Assigned runs are between headquarters at 110 State Street (Albany) and one of the satellite locations of Jordan Road (Troy) or 150 Broadway, Menands.
- Typical loads consist of mail or file bins, furniture, USPS postal containers, locked rolling cases, and palletized supplies.
- Of less frequency, there are also occasional transportation assignments throughout the year involving the delivery of material to, or retrieval from, other regional locations throughout NYS, conference facilities, or surplus/recycling centers.
Receives and Stores Stock Supplies, Selects, Packages, and Distributes Materials
- Receive warehouse deliveries.
- Distribute materials, publications, and other promotional items upon request.
- Retrieve and deliver products for tenant agencies at offsite locations.
- Maintain accountability of warehouse items using inventory system.
- Perform support and clerical work such as Bill of Lading and document preparation, scheduling, tracking, and other related activities.
- Proficiently utilize Microsoft Office Suite and various program specific applications.
- Maintain accurate records and perform routine preventative maintenance.
- Operate material handling equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Process Records Requests, Filling and Shelving
- Process new requests daily and within 24 hours of receipt.
- Ensure priority requests are processed immediately and coordinate transportation to various OSC offices, as necessary.
- Update request spreadsheets within database.
- Order, retrieve and transport miscellaneous documents and boxes from the State Records Center.
- Assist and notify customers regarding their requests.
Record Retention and Disposition
- Prepare retention and disposition schedules according to established guidelines and submit proposed schedules to the State Archives.
- Work with agency and Archives staff to help determine the appropriate time frame for proposed schedules.
