Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA): Bus Driver Licensing (Follow-Up) (2015-F-13)
An initial report issued in June 2013, determined that the majority of MTA bus drivers sampled met the requirements of Article 19-A of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law. However, seven of the 142 drivers sampled did not meet the requirements, but were allowed to drive buses transporting an estimated 8,400 passengers on a total of 38 days. In addition, the MTA did not always maintain complete certification records, and that outdated medical forms were used to certify drivers. In a follow-up report, auditors found MTA officials have made progress in correcting the problems identified. However, additional improvements are needed.
Metropolitan Transportation Authority Metro-North Railroad: Forensic Audit of Payments to On-Board Service Managers (Follow-Up) (2015-F-15)
An initial report issued in June 2012, found that Metro-North’s On Board Services Unit staff members were not held accountable for their work performance and time and attendance. In addition, the manager responsible for the unit violated Metro-North policy by not disclosing the referral of a relative who was hired in the Unit. In a follow-up report, auditors determined Metro-North Railroad officials made some progress in correcting the problems identified.
Office of Court Administration: Reporting on Foreclosure of Real Property Funds - Kings County (Follow-Up) (2015-F-18)
An initial report issued in December 2013 determined that referees did not always properly report and account for foreclosure funds. Additionally, ten of the 77 referees sampled were not listed on the Eligible Fiduciary List as of Dec. 28, 2012. Unified Court System officials subsequently provided proof of registration for seven referees, but they did not provide any documentation for three referees. In a follow-up report, auditors found court officials made some progress in addressing the issues identified in the initial report.
