Purpose
The purpose of this bulletin is to provide guidelines and processing procedures for the CUNY 2021 1.5% salary increase and increase to the Theatre Tech Tape Payment for International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE).
Affected Employees
CUNY employees in the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) in Bargaining Unit TI are affected.
Background
The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) entered and filed on 09/10/2019 between the Comptroller of the City of New York and the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Union (IATSE), Local One, authorizes a 1.5% salary increase for employees in the title of CUNY Theater Technician, Theater Technician Specialist, and Lead Theater Technician.
The determination provides for a 1.5% salary increase to hourly and annual rates effective 11/14/2021.
The rate chart and additional information are contained in a memorandum from Carmelo Batista, Jr. dated 09/10/2019.
In addition, the MOA provides for an increase to the hourly rate for work performed on Taped and Filmed Events for National Distribution or Broadcast for Profit (Theatre Tech Tape Payment).
Effective Dates
The 11/14/2021 1.5% salary increase may be submitted in Institution pay period 17C, paychecks dated 11/18/2021.
The Theatre Tech Tape Payment rate will be automatically increased effective 11/14/2021.
Eligibility Criteria
CUNY employees in the titles of Theatre Technician, Lead Theatre Technician, and Theatre Technician Specialist are eligible for the 1.5% salary increase.
Employees who receive Theatre Tech Tape payments will receive the increased hourly rate for eligible work performed on or after 11/14/2021.
OSC Actions
OSC will review the manually entered Job Action Requests and approve the salary increases based on the approved salary chart.
OSC will update the Theatre Tech Tape Payment, Earnings Code TTT, from $1.50 per hour to $1.56 per hour effective 11/14/2021.
Agency Actions
Salaried Employees
For all salary increases, request a Pay Change with the Action/Reason code of Pay Rate Chg/SIC (Salary Increase) on the Job Action Request page, using the effective date of the appropriate increase, and submit the new annual rate.
To submit increases on subsequent rows, request a Pay Change with the Action/Reason code of Pay Rate Chg/CSL (Cor Sal) on the Job Action Request page.
Hourly Employees
For all rate increases, request a Pay Change with the Action/Reason code of Pay Rate Chg/SIC (Salary Increase) on the Job Action Request page, using the effective date of the appropriate increase, and submit the new hourly rate.
To submit increases on subsequent rows, request a Pay Change with the Action/Reason code of Pay Rate Chg/CRT (Change Rate) on the Job Action Request page.
Submitting Time Entry Payments
Since the IATSE salary increase and increase to TTT are effective mid pay period, Time Entry payments that overlap the effective date of the increase will be calculated based on the salary in effect on the Earnings End Date, therefore, the agency must split up the payment dates to ensure no overlap occurs.
Tax Information
These monies are taxable income subject to all employment taxes and income taxes, will be included in the employee’s taxable gross and reported on the employee’s Form W-2.
