Purpose
To explain OSC’s automatic processing of State Police Expertise Pay.
Affected Employees
Division of State Police employees in Bargaining Unit 62
Background
Chapter 70 of the Laws of 2009 provides for an annual Expertise Payment to employees in Bargaining Unit 62.
Effective Date(s)
Payments will be processed in Pay Period 17L for paychecks dated 12/04/13
Payment Information and Eligibility Criteria
Division of State Police employees represented by Bargaining Unit 62 shall receive Expertise Pay in the amount of $1,200 annually.
To be eligible for the payment, employees must be in Active, Paid Leave of Absence or Military Stipend Leave (MLS, MTS) status on 11/01/13.
OSC Actions
For eligible employees who are in Bargaining Unit 62 and in an eligible status on 11/01/13, OSC will automatically insert a row onto the Additional Pay page with the following information:

Control-D Report
The following Control-D report will be available for agency review after processing of the Expertise Pay (EXP) payment.
NPAY770 One Time Payment Report
This report identifies all employees who received the automatic EXP payment. Fields on this report include EmplID, Employee Record No., Employee Name, Earn Code, Grade, Bargaining Unit, Part-time Percentage and Payment Amount.
Miscellaneous Payment Information
Expertise Pay is pensionable and included in the calculation of overtime.
