Employees Affected

Negotiating Unit 07 Employees who are Participating in the 12 Hour Workday Pilot Program.

For Negotiating Unit 07 employees who have elected to participate in the 12-hour workday pilot program, new earnings codes have been established to report the Special Assignment Pay and to pay an additional 42 hours in the work year. This represents the difference between the regular workday and the 12 hour workday. These codes are only to be used for employees who are in this pilot program.

The agency payroll office may begin to process these transactions, effective immediately.

Additional 42 Hours on an Annual Basis

This payment will be paid out each pay period. To pay employees who are participating, use the earning code SPS -State Police Straight Time. These entries must be processed through the Additional Pay Panel as follows:

Earnings Code Enter: SPS
Effective Date Enter: 05171999
Annual Addl Earnings Enter: Dollar Amount
Earn End Date Enter: 05162000

It will not be necessary to submit an adjustment for retroactive pay periods. The system will automatically calculate any adjustment that the employee is due using the earnings code RTS (Retro Straight Time). For employees who have salary changes, factor changes or percentage changes, the agency needs to submit a transaction to change the amount to be paid.

Special Assignment Pay

To pay eligible employees, use the earn code SPB - Special Assignment/12 hr. These entries must be processed through the Time Entry Panel as follows:

Earn Code Enter: SPB
Units Enter: Number of Units

Payroll Register and Check Stub/Advice

The appropriate earnings codes (SPB, SPS and RTS) and amount will be displayed on the Payroll Register and the employee's paycheck or direct deposit advice.
