Purpose
To explain OCS's automatic adjustments to the longevity payments and to provide instructions to agencies for processing the adjustments
Affected Employees
Employees in the following bargaining units who received an April 1999 or April 2000 Longevity Bonus which was less than the new entitlement:

Background
Chapter 69, 70 and 71 of the Laws of 2000, which implement agreements between the State and various bargaining units in the Unified Courts System, provide for an adjustment to the Longevity Bonus payments received in April 1999 and April 2000.
Longevity Bonus Eligibility
Employees of the Unified Court System who, as of the preceding March 31, have at least twenty years of continuous service in the employ of the Unified Court System shall receive a bonus equaling $1,500.
- Employees who received a Longevity Bonus in April 1999 or April 2000 are entitled to the difference between $1,500 and what they received.
- The amount of the Longevity Bonus is prorated based on the employee's part time percentage at the time of the initial payment.
- The amount of the Longevity Bonus is included in the calculation of overtime.
OSC Actions
OSC will automatically update the existing Additional Pay rows for the Earnings code JLO for effective dates 04/01/1999 to the present.
For rows with an effective date of 04/01/1999 through 03/29/2000, the panel will be updated with the following information. All other information will remain the same:
Annual Addl Earnings | $1,500 or prorated amount |
Current Goal Balance | $1,500.00 or prorated amount |
A new row will be inserted into the Additional Pay Panel for the amount the employee is due for the 1999 payment. This row will have the following information:
Earnings Code | AJL |
Effective Date | 04/01/1999 |
Earnings | The difference between the amount originally paid and $1,500 or the prorated amount |
Goal Amount | The difference between the amount originally paid and $1,500 or the prorated amount |
For rows with an effective date of 03/30/2000 through the present, the panel will be updated with the following information. All other information will remain the same:
Annual Addl Earnings | $1,500 or prorated amount |
Overtime payments received since 04/01/1999 will be automatically adjusted and paid by the system.
Reveal Report and Listing
A Reveal report titled Mass Additional Pay Report(#NHRP703) will be available for agency review one week prior to the paycheck date.
This report will identify all employees receiving the 04/01/1999 adjustment. The report will be sorted by Deptid and then by employee name, in alphabetical order. Fields on the report include Emplid, Employee Record #, Employee Name, Earn Code (AJL), Grade, Salary Plan, Bargaining Unit and Additional Pay Amount.
A listing of employees who received the 03/30/2000 adjustment will be mailed to the agencies after the payment has been processed. This listing will include Deptid, Emplid, Employee Record #, Employee Name, Effective Date, and the Adjustment Amount.
Payroll Register and Employee's Paycheck or Advice
The Earn Code AJL and JLO and the amount will be displayed on the payroll register and employee's check or advice.
