DiNapoli: Former Potter Town Clerk Arrested for Theft of Nearly $24,000

State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli, Yates County District Attorney Todd Casella, and Yates County Sherriff Ronald Spike announced the arrest of Julie Brown, former clerk of the Town of Potter.

Brown, 49, was arrested Friday for allegedly stealing nearly $24,000 in cash payments to the town. The thefts allegedly took place between January 1, 2018, and May 21, 2019.

DiNapoli: School District Budget Voter Participation More Than Tripled During COVID-19 Lockdown

Voter participation for school district budgets statewide more than tripled to 1.6 million votes cast amid the COVID-19 lockdown for the 2020-21 school budget year, after in-person voting was temporarily suspended and replaced with absentee ballots. The results were similar to 2019 when only 1.6 percent of the budgets failed to pass on the first vote, according to a report released today by State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli.
