Purpose of Audit

The purpose of our audit was to examine the Authority’s controls over the issuing of and accounting for water and sewer bond proceeds for the period of June 1, 2008 through May 31, 2013.

Background

The Rensselaer County Water Authority, which is governed by an appointed five-member Board, was established in 1986 to promote economic development through financing, managing and operating public water and sewer utilities in Rensselaer County and neighboring local governments.

Key Finding

• Debt proceeds were properly authorized by the Board and the proceeds and related expenditures were appropriately accounted for.
