Loans
Retirement Online is the fastest and easiest way to apply for a NYSLRS loan. You can see how much you can borrow, what the repayment amount would be and if your loan will be taxable.
December Schedule:
- For loans submitted online and approved by December 18, checks will be mailed on or before December 20.
- For loans submitted online and approved after December 18, checks will be mailed on January 3.
Please note, paper applications must be notarized, and they take longer to process—we cannot guarantee checks will be mailed by the dates specified when submitting a paper loan application.
The following loan applications only apply to NYSLRS members. If you are a member of another public retirement system, please visit that system’s website for the appropriate forms.

Death Benefits
Tier 2, 3, and 4 Post-Retirement Death Benefit Designation of Beneficiaries

This paper form is to be used only for those already retired to change the beneficiary to receive their post-retirement death benefit. Pensioner’s Designation of Beneficiaries
To designate a beneficiary for when a retiree has selected a pension payment option that allows for beneficiary changes beyond the date of retirement (for example, the five- or ten-year certain option).
