Retirement Benefit
Sections 89-s and 603(o) of the Retirement and Social Security Law (RSSL) provide a benefit equal to 50 percent of your final average salary (FAS) on completion of 25 years of creditable service, regardless of age. For service beyond 25 years, you will receive 1/60th (1.66 percent) of your FAS for each year of service credit, up to a maximum of 75 percent of your FAS.
When you retire, if you are eligible for a benefit under your regular retirement plan, we will compare that benefit to the one payable under Section 89-s or 603(o) and pay the greater of the two benefits.
