Advance Your Career & Salary

State service offers career mobility and annual salary increases using a salary grade and pay structure. Employees are hired at the starting salary and receive annual increases based on grade level and set through union contract negotiations. After six years, employees earn a higher fixed amount, increasing their salary to the maximum amount of their pay range.

Employees may also receive additional payments or increases at times. In 2023, the Public Employees Federation negotiated higher increases and additional longevity and education payments for their members.
