The Credits and Deductions file that you send to NYSLRS tells us when you are adding, updating, or terminating deductions for a NYSLRS retiree. Each row of data is a transaction that identifies:
- The retiree;
- The kind of transaction you are making;
- The amount of the deduction; and
- When the deduction should begin or end.
If you choose to create your own file using software, please ensure the following:
- The file must be generated as a pipe-delimited Text file (*.txt).
- The file must be named using this naming convention:
NYSLRS_<VENDOR ID>_CRDEDSETUP_YYYYMMDDHHMMSS.txt
We will provide you with your Vendor ID (for your file name) and Deduction Code Type (to label the kind of deductions specific to your organization) separately. If you need your Vendor ID or Deduction Code Type, please email [email protected].
If these requirements are not met, we will not be able to accept and process your file. We can provide you with an Excel template to create your file if you do not have software available.
